Down Time

I  promised two editors I would have two book length projects completed by the middle of January. Getting sick in December threw the proverbial monkey wrench into my plans. I hadn’t planned on all that downtime. Nothing, however, stopped me from working on ideas in my head, so when I finally felt better I was […]

Preparing for the Future

I had a lunch meeting downtown with my webmaster, Wess. He’s working on a big project, setting up a web presence for an international corporation. I’m flattered that he took the time to hang out with me. He’s a good guy. I wanted to meet with Wess to talk with him about bringing my website […]

Big Sam

Some terrific news arrived yesterday morning. My book Big Sam,  with stunning artwork by Jim Starr, was named a Notable Book for the Sydney Taylor Award by the Jewish Book Council. This is a big honor. Big Sam and I are very proud.

The Search for the Shamir

The Search for the Shamir, the second Scarlett and Sam adventure is just out. This time the twins help King Solomon build the Temple in Jerusalem. Sounds easy. The problem is the construction has to be done without iron tools. Iron is a metal of war and God’s Temple must be a house of peace. As […]

I Want A Real Bike (in Oregon)

2018 is off to a great start. I have several new books that I’m very excited about. Here’s one of my favorites: I Want A Real Bike (in Oregon.) Our main characters has outgrown his bike. He really needs a new one to keep up with his friends. There are so many different kinds of […]

This time they’ll have an undersea adventure with Jonah the prophet (a very unpleasant fellow.) Everyone talks about Jonah and the Whale. There’s no whale in the […]

A Real Bike

Spent yesterday reviewing the sketches for the illustrations for a new book coming out next year. It’s called If I Had A Real Bike. It follows a simple story. Our hero wants to move up from a baby bike to a “real” bike. There are so many different kinds. Which kind shall it be? Road […]

New Videos

I have three new books coming out over the spring and summer. Yet, if you’ve been following me on Vimeo, you’ll see that I only have two new videos. How come? And how come I don’t have videos for lots of my books. I make them on my desktop computer. Why aren’t there more of […]

Off To France!

I see again that I haven’t kept up my resolution to post regularly. Lots of things are going on. We are preparing for a birding trip to the south of France to see birds in the Camargue region. This is an important wetland on the flyway between Europe and North Africa. We will be there […]

Back From The Coast

I just returned home from four days at the Oregon Coast. I spent the first three days at Warrenton Grade School, just southwest from Astoria. Kathi Merritt, the librarian, has been a good friend of mine for years. This is the fourth time she’s had me visit. An added plus is that I got to […]
